on ford freda when turn ignition off engine still runs does anyone know the cause / problem

Hi Jackie ...

Could be one of a few things ...

How long does it run-on for?

If it's just a short while, and the same length of time every time, then in common with a LOT of different japanese imports, yours could be fitted with a turbo-timer - a device designed to allow the turbo on diesel 'performance' cars to 'relax' prior to enging shut-down.

It's usually a small gadget, that looks like this :

With various settings from 'off' then 30s to 5 mins.

Alternatively, you have a problem ...

Engine run-on is frequently the result of a faulty fuel stop solenoid on the injection pump.
